Taking bidirectional conversion toward the grid
The bidirectional AC/DC design built for wireless charging scales up to grid-tied capacity. It starts residential and climbs to commercial and utility scale on the same structure.
EV wireless charging was bidirectional from the beginning. Handling V2G — sending power from the car back to the grid — required an inverter that holds up under grid faults, and we secured patents along the way. The power conversion system (PCS) in an energy storage system is the same problem at larger capacity.
We completed advance development of a single-phase residential ESS AC/DC, confirming the structure and arc detection, and are now developing a grid-tied commercial PCS. A large-capacity PCS is running as an internal project.
Where solar and batteries sit together, a DC arc turns into a fire. We are separately developing an arc detection device that combines a high-frequency current sensor with frequency analysis, and our ESS fire-prevention technology is covered by patent.
